I have always wanted to build a robot. I have always wanted to integrate internet of things (IOT) like processing elements into an art piece. The Junk Bot Art Project allows me to explore both.
I have to admit I have been “storing” old technology for years in my basement. Old computer parts, salvaged lamps, broken water pumps, left over IOT class processors, sensors, leds, and other detritus of home repair projects have been stored in the hopes of “repurposing”. This projects allows me to try and use some of the components.
Essentially I was looking for a humanoid like robot, that means to me a robot with arms, legs, body, head, so that it would be recognizable as robot. For automation, I intended to have eyes and mouth light up to give the bot some animation.
Next time I will cover the body selection process.
